Latest News

Robert Burr was awarded a “Good Work” certificate on 29th August.

Gurvinder Garcha has taken Thomas’s place in NASCH Finals gala as Thomas is too old for the junior races this year.

The entry form has been submitted with Gurvinder swimming 1 length (submitted time 39.78), Daniel Hodge 2 lengths (1.43.37) and Peter Markham 4 lengths (2.25.00). If times improve they can be resubmitted before the gala on 1st November. Aaron Peters is the named reserve. The gala will be held at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in Leamington. As last year, we have informed the organisers that we are willing to fill any vacant places for our region in girls, mens or ladies events.

The Kay Clarke Memorial Gala has been postponed due to lack of entries. It appears that it was too soon after the summer break for some clubs to organise their teams. It will be rearranged after consulting with the clubs affected. As we are unlikely to be oversubscribed, it should be possible to include a width race for swimmers who are unable to complete a length. It will still have to be held on a Saturday – probably starting at 4.30pm so that it does not depend on a party booking the first hour. This is the only hire time available at Bedworth other than 8.00pm on Sundays. More info asap.   Our club members can have an immediate refund of their entry fee if they would like this or wait for the rearranged date to see if the entry is to stand. I have your money (Sheila).

NASCH National Gala 2014

Our Junior Boys have been selected to represent the region in the NASCH National Gala on Saturday, 1st November.

Thomas Slater and Peter Markham have been invited to defend their titles. Daniel Hodge has been invited to complete the team.

Well done!

Volunteers needed for our gala on 20th September 2014

We are looking for volunteers to help us out at our gala on 20th September, at Bedworth Leisure Centre, 5pm-8pm. Nuneaton have a gala at the Pingles and cannot help us with officiating. Any husbands / wives / schoolfriends / workmates will be guaranteed a job! (Expenses paid). Finding a starter is a particular priority at the moment. If you can help us out, we would really appreciate your help. Please speak to Sheila or a member of the committee.

Charity Wheelchair Basketball Tournament for everyone!

We have received the following from Rotary Club of Coventry Jubilee. If anyone would be interested?

Hello,

I am organising a charity wheelchair basketball tournament, on behalf of Coventry Jubilee, to raise money for Rotary Charities and Coventry Wheelchair Basketball Academy and thought you may be interested in submitting a team made up of people and/or staff involved with your services/projects. Coventry Wheelchair Basketball Academy (CWBA) is part of the YMCA.

The tournament is taking place at Woodlands Academy, Broad Lane, Coventry on Sunday September 14th 2014 and consists of the tournament and a family fun day where there will be a bouncy castle, BBQ, face painting, mini chair challenges, photo booth and charity stalls for all the family to enjoy. The tournament is open to anybody, able bodied and disabled, age 9+ and is great fun way of exercising and trying something new! No prior game experience is necessary and sports wheelchairs will be provided where needed. Wheelchair basketball is a great way to integrate the community and abilities.

We require teams of 5-8 players, playing 5-a-side games. There will be group stage games, leading a semi final and a final, refereed by CWBA head coach. The cost is £50 per team, regardless of the amount of players. We have been promoting this throughout Coventry and have teams made up of a mixture of able bodied and disabled players, families, companies and friends!

Please let me know if you would be interested in being part of this event, we would love you to be involved, I’m sure it will be a great day and fun for everyone!
